Bio Diversity

Costa Rica accounts for only 0.03 percent of the earth's surface (has only 51.100km2) smaller than Greater Los Angles California. However it contains nearly 6 percent of the world's biodiversity. Its natural wealth, both in species and ecosystems, is partly explained by its geographical position.

Costa Rica's Osa peninsula, a former island that now makes up the southernmost reach of the country's Pacific coast, was called “the most biologically intense place on Earth” by National Geographic. It crams 2.5% of the planet's biodiversity into just 0.001% of its surface area.

The Blue Whale is the largest animal on earth measuring over 100 feet long (three school bus end to end). They weigh between 200,000 – 300,000 pounds or 130,000 Kilos. The blue Whale roams all over the world from South Pole to the north Atlantic. Scientist, Marine Biologist have tracked the Blue Whale and one of the few destinations that the Blue Whale goes to birth their young on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica Dome.
